Jessica Silverman is pleased to participate in Frieze Seoul 2025, which runs from September 3–6. For its third year at the fair, the gallery will present a group show titled “Over the Moon,” at booth B06, featuring four women artists: Andrea Bowers, Clare Rojas, Davina Semo, and Chelsea Ryoko Wong. Exploring the psychological and social textures of human existence, the presentation elevates the everyday into the otherworldly.

Clare Rojas is a magic realist painter with a talent for unexpected abstract forms. Her paintings are based on careful observation of the dynamics of the natural world and insightful awareness of its animistic energies. Thinking of You (2025) portrays a surreal meditation on solitude and presence. On a mountain of boulders, a lone woman is joined by a crow on her knee, rocks with blinking eyes and a hand cradling the moon, revealing a connection to mystical forces. Rojas’s complex cosmologies are rooted in Peruvian and California ecofeminism.

Chelsea Ryoko Wong is a California muralist whose paintings explore the choreography of friendships and the social harmony of diverse peoples. Her vibrant tableaux blend the informality of folk aesthetics with rigorous compositions, which echo the formality of Georges Seurat. In Reverberating in Harmony (2025), Wong depicts friends and strangers ascending a tree-lined mountain to reach a bell at its peak. Beneath a twilight sky, they move through the fantastical forest in vibrant, patterned attire, inviting viewers into a world of warmth, leisure, and shared ritual. Wong is currently enjoying a solo show at the Oakland Museum of California.

INQUIRE

Davina Semo is a sculptor with a virtuoso relationship to her materials whose mission is to pull individuals into the warm glow of community. Her bells explore the lustrous sheens and patinas of bronze in an array of shapes. Works on view include Animal (2025), which was created using a traditional foundry technique. Metallic-flecked scales protrude from beyond its blue surface, evoking the presence of a living being or fossilized relic. The clever sculptures have a significant presence but take up no floor space; they are beautiful, but also interactive and audible. When rung, each sculpture produces a unique tone—offering astonishment and the opportunity for reflection. Semo is currently enjoying a large solo exhibition at the SCAD Art Museum in Savannah, GA.

Andrea Bowers is a leading artist-activist committed to women’s rights and a healthier planet. Using her distinctive medium—thick layers of recycled cardboard—Bowers carefully renders delicate plant species native to the regions where she lives and works. Layered with poetic verses borrowed from writer Deena Metzger, the works bridge the materiality of street protest with the quiet devotion of environmental responsibility. The paintings invite viewers to consider care for the environment as a daily, compassionate practice.
