    Jessica Silverman is pleased to participate in Art Basel Miami Beach’s 2024 edition, which runs from December 4 to 8. The gallery will present new and historic works from Sadie Barnette, Andrea Bowers, Julie Buffalohead, Andrea Carlson, Julia Chiang, Judy Chicago, Emma Cousin, Sam Falls, Beverly Fishman, Matthew Angelo Harrison, Julian Hoeber, Loie Hollowell, Isaac Julien, Atsushi Kaga, Dashiell Manley, Masako Miki, Woody De Othello, Hayal Pozanti, Clare Rojas, Hugh Scott-Douglas, Davina Semo, Rose B. Simpson, Rupy C. Tut, Catherine Wagner, Pae White, Claudia Wieser, Margo Wolowiec, Chelsea Ryoko Wong, and Guimi You. This curated group show, titled “The Keepers,” will explore the folklore, cultural histories, and formal traditions that bridge cultures and connect humankind.

    Two 8-foot bronze sentinels by Rose B. Simpson straddle earthly and spiritual realms by representing ancestors as knowledge keepers.
    Rupy C. Tut’s care-filled paintings, which depict lush natural territories graced by feminine figures, are informed by generational experiences of exile.
    On the walls, Loie Hollowell’s bas-relief Red-orange nipple over blue underpainting (2024) highlights the spirituality of biomorphic abstraction. Judy Chicago’s historic series Thinking About Trees (1993-97) along with paintings by Hayal Pozanti and Andrea Bowers explore legends of the natural world.
    Wool sculptures by Masako Miki engage the sentience of objects possessed by shape-shifting spirits.
    Sadie Barnette groups intricate graphite drawings, texts, and photographs from her extensive archive to explore how relational proximity multiplies meaning. Engaging personal lineages, Julie Buffalohead’s painting Earth People Sky People (2024) playfully borrows creatures from Ojibwe narratives.
    Woody De Othello's anthropomorphic ceramic sculptures manifest human predicaments and emotions.
