Art Basel Switzerland

Art Basel Switzerland

June 18-21, 2026

Jessica Silverman is pleased to announce participation in Art Basel’s 2026 edition, running from June 15 to 21 at Messe Basel. The gallery will participate in the main Galleries sector (Booth J5) and will also present a monumental new installation by longtime gallery artist Woody De Othello in the Unlimited sector at U26.

The gallery will host a group exhibition of new and historic works by the artists listed below at booth J5, located upstairs on the outer perimeter of Hall 2.1. Highlights include a new tapestry by artist Marilou Schultz, who recently joined the gallery program and is concurrently featured in “Labouring Bodies” at Museum Tinguely, on view in Basel during the fair.

Within the Messe Basel Event Hall, gallery artist Trevor Paglen has contributed his visionary approach to perception and digital technology to co-curate “Zero 10.” This new section of the Basel fair is dedicated to art that uses new media and AI.

Participating artists include: Andrea Bowers, Julie Buffalohead, Judy Chicago, Sam Falls, Beverly Fishman, Matthew Angelo Harrison, Loie Hollowell, Isaac Julien, Atsushi Kaga, Koak, Rebecca Manson, Rebecca Ness, Woody De Othello, Trevor Paglen, Hayal Pozanti, Clare Rojas, Marilou Schultz, Rupy C. Judy Chicago’s Drawing from the Great Ladies Series is a Prismacolor drawing from this series. The work includes an inscription in the artist’s signature cursive: “The center is the point from which all life flows. The center is Virginia Woolf’s lighthouse and Georgia O’Keeffe’s skies. Anais once said, ‘my work must be closest to the life flow. I must install myself inside of the seed, growth, mysteries.’ This is a drawing about energy; energy which emanates from the center

Andrea Bowers , Fight for Her Future
Andrea Bowers has been using found cardboard as the substrate of her paintings since 2012. The richly textured paintings, which pay homage to the cardboard placards made for street protests and honor the artist’s commitment to ecologically responsible art production, are recognizable icons of Bowers’ practice. The slogans Bowers paints are collected from handmade protest signs observed by the artist herself during protest marches. These works are also emblazoned with native California flowers – symbols of new beginnings and conveyors of a wide range of emotions, including love and sympathy.

Rupy C. Tut , Inverted Waters
In Inverted Waters (2026), Rupy C. Tut re-imagines the geography of memory, depicting the Indus river system as a vibrant network of phantom-like pink forests against a deep blue sea of land. This inversion transforms the landscape into a poignant allegory for the displaced histories and interrupted childhoods of the Punjabi people following the 1947 Partition. Tiny paper boats, scattered and blocked in their flow evoke longing, loss, and the enduring power of ancestral stories to define a land that can only be visited through memory.

In Olive Branches, Julie Buffalohead represents an American Indian symbol of the medicine wheel in which a grouping of various birds and North American mammals clasp olive branches. Meant to convey a sense of peace and healing, the colors of the animals loosely correspond to the four cardinal directions symbolized within a medicine wheel.

Trevor Paglen, bare skin globe silver cervids blossom sky (Gondola Wish, color_3634223)
The works in Trevor Paglen's "Gondola Wish" series draw from classified photographic collages produced by the CIA in the 1970s–80s, as part of a paranormal perception program that operated under codenames including Gondola Wish, Grill Flame, and Stargate. The original collages were placed at target sites to train "remote viewers"—operatives tasked with psychically projecting themselves into sensitive foreign locations—to report exactly what they perceived rather than what they expected to perceive. They were, in short, a technology for training people to trust the irrational.

In Superbloom Skull (2023), a wall-bound ceramic sculpture, Sam Falls elegantly synthesizes the archival with the elemental, creating a poignant memento mori that honors the delicate cycle of life and decay. By impressing native flora into glazed ceramic to form a "fossil for the future," Falls captures the fleeting vibrancy of a superbloom within the enduring silhouette of mortality, beautifully articulating our profound and temporal connection to the earth.
