Jessica Silverman presented “Ancient Wisdoms” for their debut participation in Art Basel Hong Kong 2024, on view from March 26 to 30 at booth 3C05. This curated exhibition marked the Hong Kong debut of artists Rose B. Simpson, Hayal Pozanti, Julie Buffalohead, Rupy C. Tut, and Chelsea Ryoko Wong. Alongside works by Loie Hollowell, Judy Chicago, Beverly Fishman, Julia Jo, Jocelyn Hobbie, Woody De Othello, and Clare Rojas, the artists explore tradition, memory, knowledge, peace, and love.

Finally, the booth includes an important historic embroidery by Judy Chicago, titled Creation of the World (1984), depicting ecstatic bodies birthing pomegranate-like new beings. As part of the Art Basel Hong Kong Film Program, Chicago’s 1971-2 video Women and Smoke, California will screen on March 30 at the fair on Level 1, room N101B. The atmospheric work fuses Earth Art and performance art while conjuring the power of ancient goddess rituals.
