Margo Wolowiec
Margo Wolowiec
Margo Wolowiec makes loom-woven textiles infused with images via dye-sublimation transfer. Her painterly assemblages feature imagery focused on the environment: prismatic moth and butterfly wings, sweeping landscapes, unusual icebergs, and solar eclipse shadows. Her works are symbols of hope and a testament to the intimate warp and weft of the natural world.
Wolowiec (b. 1985, Detroit, MI) received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007 and an MFA from California College of the Arts, San Francisco in 2013. She has had solo exhibitions at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, CO; Marlborough Contemporary, New York; Library Street Collective, Detroit; Harper’s, New York and East Hampton; and Laura Bartlett Gallery, London. Her work is in the public collections of the Detroit Center for Photography; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; MacLean Collection, Libertyville, IL; KADIST, San Francisco; and the San José Museum of Art, CA. Wolowiec currently lives and works outside Detroit.
