Freeing herself of any male-dominated nomenclature, Judy Gerowitz officially transformed into Judy Chicago in 1970. Accompanied by Chicago-based gallery owner, Jack Glenn, Judy Chicago decided to use this image to announce her upcoming solo show at Cal State Fullerton. She posed in a boxing ring, one where Mohammad Ali once trained, wearing silk shorts, boxing shoes and sweatshirt inscribed with her chosen name- Judy Chicago.
