As artist, teacher and mentor, Ian Wallace has played an influential role in the Vancouver art scene. Together with former students and associates Stan Douglas, Rodney Graham, Ken Lum and Jeff Wall, Wallace was a pioneering force behind what is known as the ‘Vancouver School’ of photoconceptualism. He was a professor at the University of British Columbia (1967 – 1970) and at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design (1972 – 1998).
